This year the Festival del film Locarno will launch its first Industry Days, three days entirely devoted to film professionals, 7 - 9 August 2010, with a programme of screenings and sessions specially designed to meet the needs of delegates.

Concentrated at the beginning of the festival, the new Industry Screenings, restricted to buyers, will offer previews of the films screening on the Piazza Grande and the two feature film competitions in the 63rd edition of the Festival – the Concorso internazionale (International Competition) and the Concorso Cineasti del presente (Filmmakers of the Present Competition).
In addition, over these three days producers and distributors can also attend several workshops and round-tables organised in collaboration with Locarno’s Industry Office partners. The Europa Distribution network continues its association with the Festival via an event reserved for those of its members attending Locarno.
Professionals at the Festival will also have an opportunity to take part in various events linked to Open Doors Factory, the Festival’s co-production lab that takes place during the same time-period, and which this year focuses on central Asia. Highlights include a case study on co-production, and a round table on production and the film industry in central Asia, featuring numerous specialists and representatives from the sector.
Olivier Père, the Festival’s Artistic Director, comments “With these Industry Days, we want to provide Locarno with an additional asset as a platform for professional networking and a meeting place for the independent film industry”.
Nadia Dresti, who runs the Festival’s Industry Office, notes “This initiative will enhance the range of services developed over the last two years to encourage and facilitate the sales of titles presented at the Festival”.
A detailed programme for Industry Days will be published in the near future.
The 63rd edition of the Festival del film Locarno takes place 4 - 14 August 2010.
