Concorso Pardi di domani

Dedicated to revealing young talent, the Concorso Pardi di domani (Leopards of Tomorrow - Short Film Competitions) welcomed the very first films made by Fatih Akin, Barbara Albert, Paul Thomas Anderson, Laurent Cantet, François Ozon, Andrea Staka, Roberta Torre and so many others. Open to short films (up to 40 minutes) by directors who have not yet made feature films, the section features two competitions: one is international, the other is devoted to films by young Swiss filmmakers (first prize for each competition: 10,000 CHF, offered by SRG SSR idée suisse and Swiss Life respectively).

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Pardi di domani section, devoted to short films and young talent. In this occasion the Festival will present a retrospective with some of the most significant short films screened in Locarno over the years. The July’s issue of French monthly Bref Magazine will offer a commemorative DVD to its subscribers.

The section is also glad to announce its new collaboration with the European Film Awards: European short films selected in the Concorso Pardi di domani will compete for a nomination to the European Short Film Awards. Besides, for the third consecutive year, the winning films in both competitions are eligible for pre-selection by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Short Films Awards (Oscars©).
