The "CROSSING EUROPE Award European Competition" was given ex aequo to At Ellen's Age (Im Alter von Ellen) by Pia Marais (Germany). The film had its world premiere in the Concorso internazionale of the 63rd Festival del film Locarno.
Periferic (Outbound), the first feature by Bogdan George Apetri presented as a world premiere in the Concorso internazionale of the 63rd Festival del film Locarno, will be released online in April.
The successful call for entries of the 2011 co-production lab of the Festival del film Locarno Open Doors is now closed. For the 2011 session devoted to India, more than 200 projects from 30 regions and in 18 Indian languages have been submitted. Open Doors’ expert jury will select 12 projects for participation in the final phase that will take place during the Festival del film Locarno (6-9 August 2011). The list of selected projects will be announced at the end of April.

‘Cold Weather’ by Aaron Katz (USA, 2010) will be released in American Theatres on February 4th. The American director’s feature has been selected in the Concorso internazionale of the 63rd Festival del film Locarno.

‘Pulsar’ by Alex Stockman (Belgium, 2010) will debut in Belgian Theatres on January 19th. This film received its world premiere in the Concorso cineasti del presente, during the last edition of the Festival del film Locarno.

The Federal Office for Culture (BAK) has announced the Swiss entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Academy Awards, selecting The Little Room (La petite chambre).

The short film Diarchia (Diarchy), presented as a world premiere at the 63rd Locarno Festival in the section Pardi di domani: Concorso internazionale, was selected at the Sundance Film Festival in the International Narrative Shorts section.

The Human Resources Manager by Eran Riklis (Israel/Germany/France) will debut on December 15th in French cinemas.

Outbound (Periferic), which had its world premiere in the Concorso internazionale during the last Locarno Festival, went on to win both the Special Jury Prize and the Prize for Best Screenplay at Poland’s Warsaw Film Festival.

Tilva Ros, selected in the Concorso Cineasti del presente at the 63rd Locarno Festival, won the main prize and the people's choice award at the EntreVues Festival in Belfort (France). The first feature by Nikola Lezaic was also awarded the main prize at the Estoril Film Festival (Portugal) and an IFG Inspiration Award at the Filmfestival Cottbus (Germany). The Serbian production continues its successful career after being selected at the Zagreb Film Festival (Croatia), the Warsaw Film Festival (Poland) and the Festival Internacional de Cine Valdivia (Chile).

Monsters, Gareth Edwards' directorial debut screened at the Piazza Grande during the 63rd Locarno Festival, just won three prizes among the six nominations at the Moët British Independent Film Awards, in the categories Best Director, Best Technical Achievement and Best Achievement in Production.
Beli Beli Svet (White White World) by Oleg Novkovic, presented in the Concorso internazionale at the 63rd Locarno Festival, won the main prize at the Film Festival Cottbus (Germany).

German film Rammbock was awarded the Wiener Filmpreis in the "Fiction" category at the 2010 Viennale. This first feature by Marvin Kren was presented on the Piazza Grande at the 63rd Festival del film Locarno.
Besides, another first feature premiered at this year's Locarno Festival (Concorso internazionale/International Competition) just won the FIPRESCI Prize of the International Association of Film Critics at the 2010 Viennale: Periferic by Bogdan George Apetri (Rumenia/Austria).
Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale came out on top at the Sitges Festival. The directing debut of Norwegian Jalmari Helander, which screened as a world premiere at Locarno last year, was laurelled as Best Film at the Spanish festival.
In Locarno the film was the winner of the Variety Piazza Grande Award.

German thriller Das letzte Schweigen by Baran Odar, which was screened as an International Premiere in August at Locarno's Piazza Grande, will be soon released in France (DistriB), Spain (Karma Film), Benelux (Brunbro Entertainment Group), Turkey (Filmarti Film) and Colombia (Babilla Cine). The film's World Sales is German society Bavaria Film International.
Several films from last year’s Locarno Festival were later selected for the 35th Toronto International Film Festival.

The winner of the 2010 Pardo d'oro (Golden Leopard), Han Jia (Winter Vacation) has won the most important prize at the Film Festival in Seoul.
August 9th was the final day of the highly successful and well-attended first edition of the Festival del film Locarno’s Industry Days.
The Industry Office of the Festival del film Locarno is delighted to report that distribution rights for two of the films in the Concorso internazionale have been acquired following the announcement of the selection for the 2010 edition.
This year the Festival del film Locarno will launch its first Industry Days, three days entirely devoted to film professionals, 7 - 9 August 2010, with a programme of screenings and sessions specially designed to meet the needs of delegates.

Sham Moh (At the End of Daybreak), by Malaysian director HO Yuhang (a Malaysia/Hong Kong/South Corea coproduction), screened as a world premiere in the International Competition at the 62nd Locarno Festival, won two prizes at the prestigious Asian Film Awards on March 22nd in Hong Kong: Best Newcomer for actress NG Meng Hui and Best Supporting Actress for WAI Ying-Hong (Kara Hui).
Four winners at the Quartz (Swiss Film Prize) 2010 awards ceremony held on Saturday, March 6th in Luzern, had previously featured in the program at the 62nd Locarno Film Festival.
La Reine des pommes (The Queen of Hearts… and her Parisian Lovers) by Valérie Donzelli (France) had its national release on February 24th. This first feature distributed by Shellac, was screened as a world premiere at the 62nd Locarno Festival in the Filmmakers of the Present Competition.
The winner of the 2009 Golden Leopard, She, a Chinese by Xiaolu GUO, was released in the United Kingdom on February 26th (distribution: Optimum Releasing).
Once again, titles which premiered at Locarno last year have made good ground on the international distribution circuit, as a result of sales agreements reached during or just after the event itself, and thanks to the focused effort of the Festival’s Industry Office. Many films from Locarno have also been enjoying considerable success at festivals around the world.
