09.08.2010: How to position and sell a Swiss-European coproduction on the international market?

The annual Coproducing with Switzerland meeting set up by FOCAL and Festival del film Locarno encourages coproductions and strengthens the networking between Swiss and European producers.

Scheduled for Monday, August 9, it will focus on the difficulties entailed in acquiring and selling a Swiss-majority coproduction... that is, how to optimize their distribution in Europe!

Two mechanisms for distributing Swiss-majority films in Europe will be presented, and the scope of their impact is to be evaluated. Case studies will explore the difficulties and benefits of distributing these coproductions in Europe, and a panel of distributors and world sales will analyze the market trend, how Swiss-majority films are considered and what can be done to optimize their promotion in Europe and abroad.

09.08.2010:  « En route vers le XIIIe Sommet»  with the Festival del film Locarno

It is our pleasure to announce that the Festival del film Locarno is a partner of the « En route vers le XIIIe Sommet » programm taking place in the run-up to the summit of 70 heads of state and government of the International Organisation of the Francophonie that Switzerland will host from 22 to 24 October 2010. As a curtain-raiser to this major meeting of countries “sharing the use of French as a common language”, the Locarno Film Festival in partnership with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Office of Cultural Affairs will dedicate a full day to francophone cinema on Monday 9 August 2010.

Film-screenings, discussions and festivities for a “Francophonie” day
With the same spirit than for the Montreux Summit, this day is intended as a moment of conviviality, encounters and discussion for amateurs and cinema lovers from Switzerland and the whole world who gather in Locarno each year for the film festival. The day is also intended to enable participants to experience la Francophonie through a selection of films that will be screened, and to participate in a discussion on the diversity of francophone cinema. The day will conclude with a festive evening for professionals of the “7th art” organised by the agencies for the promotion of cinema in the francophone countries together with TV5 Monde.
